How to: Remove all associations between a Briefcase file and its counterpart(s).
Solution:
Select 'Split from Original' from the 'Briefcase' menu.
1) Double-click the 'My Briefcase' icon on your desktop. (The 'My Briefcase' window appears.)

2) Select the file(s) to be disassociated.
3) Select the 'Briefcase' menu and select 'Split from Original'. (A confirmation window appears.)
4) Click 'Yes'. (The file(s) remain in the 'Briefcase' with an Orphan status.)
